A letter from the Executive Director

This month, like many other things, National Social Work Month has been overshadowed by the COVID-19 pandemic, but never before has the field of social work been so important. Social workers are on the front line dealing with all of the facets of life- from birth to death, from richer or poorer, in sickness and in health. They take on your stress and find a solution to help you deal with whatever life throws your way. It is not a glamorous job and it is not a high paying job. It is a job that never leaves you, a job you never forget. It is not for the faint of heart.

To all of my staff, to all of the social workers in the community- let me say THANK YOU!  Thank you for tackling the trauma of others, thank you for the nightmares and sleepless nights, thank you for the glimmers of hope you see in others, thank you for being  quick thinking to stop issues before they escalate, thank you for studying endless hours to find a more efficient way to help others, and most of all thank you for caring about all of humanity to try to move our world into a better place, Thank you will never be enough for all that you do but I want you to know that although our work is mostly unseen… it is more critical now that ever.

I see you, I appreciate you, and I am honored to walk among you. Thank you for all that you do, thank you for choosing to be a Social Worker. Happy National Social Work Month!
