How to Become a Foster Parent

Does taking the first step in becoming a foster parent seem scary and out of reach?

When we ask our families how long it took them to take the first step in becoming a foster parent, we often hear one to two years. Why? Because they had no idea HOW to start the process or WHAT the first step even was! It’s quite simple actually, all we need from you to get started is your phone number and there are a ton of ways to get that to us!

  • Fill out one of our many inquiry forms throughout our website

  • Call us

  • Email us

  • Follow us on social media and send us a message

After we have the opportunity to connect with you and learn more about each other, the next step is to attend an information session. During our information session, you will have the opportunity to learn what foster parenting is all about, as well as what to expect during the certification process.

Foster parents must successfully complete a pre-screen, pass background checks, have a stable living environment, adequate space in home, and be in good physical health. Our most successful foster parents are patient, stable, loving and dependable.  It’s important for our families to be open minded to children from all different backgrounds.

All types of foster parents are needed in our community. Being a foster parent is a full time job, not to be mistaken for volunteering your time. It can be humbling and rewarding. Our families are not only involved in the everyday parenting,  but partner with social workers, case managers and schools. It’s a team environment and we are all in it to do what is best for the child!

If you are interested in learning more about becoming a foster parent, we are here to help and would love to hear from you!
