Meet the Staff
Kelly Athey
Site Director
I earned my degree from Radford University in sociology and brought with me to Embrace more than a decade of experience working with children in the community setting. I am married and have three beautiful children. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and also love to read when I can find the time. I am passionate about giving back to the community I grew up in, helping children and families in the process.
Heather Woods
Supervisor
I am the Foster Parent coordinator for the Roanoke office. I have a bachelor's degree in social work and many years of experience working as a foster care social worker for a local DSS. I love matching children with families and look forward to each and every referral for new placements or new families! When I am not working, I enjoy reading, playing with my own kids and seeing new places.
Kaycin Ballard

I am the Foster Parent Recruiting Coordinator for the Roanoke Valley. I completed my undergrad at Roanoke College and received my MA in Human Rights from the University of Roehampton in London. I have a passion for giving back to my wonderful hometown that gave me so much as well as helping others. I have a passion for traveling, learning new languages, crafting, and spending time with my friends and family.
Emily Worrell

I graduated from Roanoke college with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice. I have worked for local department of social services for the last 7 1/2 years. I have worked with adults and children in protective services. I just got engaged to the love of my life. In my spare time I love to knit and have three dogs that are my children.
Wendy Hall

I am a case manager with Embrace. I hold a bachelor's degree in social work from Radford University. When I am not working, I like watching movies, hanging out with family and friends, and doing crafts with my niece. I have two four-legged fur-babies named Chance and Cody. I believe life is a musical and that every moment has a song.
Angela Edmonds
Executive Director
I was excited to find my home with ncgCARE in March of 2010. I have been a long-time athlete, participating in softball, lacrosse and cheerleading since I was 8 years old. I continue to have a passion for fitness and enjoy running in races and competing in physique shows through the National Physique Committee. I have been happily married to the man of my dreams since 2012 and confidently exclaim that my biggest accomplishments in life are my sons.
